Seismic Stoppers In Bridge Designs|Earthquake Proof Bridges Features

Seismic Stoppers and Expansion Joints In Bridge Designs|Earthquake Proof Bridges Features-Bridges and Flyovers are necessity for today’s Traffic demand throughout the world and for a Smooth traffic flow it is very important to have Uninterrupted Roads network in developed countries. At the same time Civil Engineers and site engineers need to follow the Seismic Rules to make a Earthquake proof structures.

Let us talk about some steps to create Earthquake proof Bridge for safe construction. Hope you have already got idea of Glass Roof Tiles for Green Houses Construction.

Seismic Stoppers In Bridge Designs|Earthquake Proof Bridges Features-

Most important things to be take in consideration for a earthquake proof bridge is as follows-

1. Seismic Stoppers

2. Expansion Joints

To make it Non Uniform and If failure occurs only One Module should fail and other should stand tall.

let us discuss about Seismic Stoppers first here-

Siesmic Stoppers-

Siesmic Stoppers are mainly based upon the concept of VCD i.e Vibrations Control Device with capability of giving a stable stage to a bridge and mainly it absorbs the vibrations and prevent the collapse of the structure.

Despite the fact that stoppers, which restrain the transverse seismic movements of the deck, are used frequently in seismically isolated bridges, the use of longitudinal stoppers is relatively rare, mainly due to the large in-service constraint movements of bridges.

Siesmic Stoppers are generally attached a both the Abutment pier cap at either ends of Bridge near the bearing.

Expansion Joints

An expansion joint or movement joint is an assembly designed to safely absorb the heat-induced expansion and contraction of construction materials, to absorb vibration, to hold parts together, or to allow movement due to ground settlement or earthquakes. They are commonly found between sections bridges.

Bridge expansion joints are designed to allow for continuous traffic between structures accommodating movement, shrinkage, temperature variations on reinforced and prestressed concrete, composite and steel structures. They stop the bridge from bending out of place in extreme conditions and allow enough vertical movement to permit bearing replacement.
